Before we tell you about our day at Plitvice, we will immediately give you our tips for a successful day at the park. To fully enjoy the lakes, plan a full day.
Our advices :
- Book no later than 3 days before on internet your entrance ticket.
- Take the entry 2
- Prepare your course in the park before going there.
- Plan your backpack with water, food, sunscreen, waterproof clothing depending on the weather.
- Although the day was wonderful, the beginning almost turned into a nightmare.
Indeed, talking with Croatians, we discovered the day before that we had better book on the internet entry to the park. Being too late, because you have to book at least two days in advance, we are gone to the park.
The closer we get to the car, the more traffic becomes dense. Cars with registrations from all over Europe, buses, taxis, walkers. In short, we quickly realized that Plitvice Park attracts people from all over the world. Often like every UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Once the car at the car park, we approached the crates and there, the drama.
The park is complete until 11 am from the entrance 1. So we were advised to go to the entrance 2 because there were still places. This is why we insist on reserving online so as not to be refused.
This past episode, what we discovered in this day has made us forget this start of the day catastrophic.
Once in the park you have the choice between 7 paths going from the course A to G according to which entry you use.
We advise you in preference the H course from the entry 2 because it is in the direction of the descent or otherwise the course C from the entry 1. For these courses C or H you will need between 4 and 6 hours to cover 8000 meters.
The courses are complemented by shuttle parties and a lake crossing by boat. Really nice. The rest are walking on wooden paths or platforms.
As far as the landscape is concerned, you will be amazed by the vastness of nature, the number of lakes, the number of waterfalls, the different colors of the waters, the sounds of the water, the fish, the animals. And to finish for the H course or to start for the C, the Big Fall, the giant fall. Really impressive. And especially a decor that we never tired of seeing during these 8 kilometers.
We visited Plitvice at the beginning of the summer but each season has its charm in Plitvice. We hope to go back there in the winter to see the park in its winter setting. The park is open all year.
In addition, Croatia is beautiful. The park environment also deserves some stops to observe the mountains, taste the local honey.
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a marvel of nature.
