Cols of Glandon & Croix de Fer

Cols Glandon and Croix de Fer

In the heart of the Maurienne, Glandon located to 1924 meters, and the Iron Cross in 2068 meters are two great passes that allow you to access a high beautiful mountain landscape.
Glandon we can admire the Valley of Villards, the top of Mont Blanc, the Iron Cross of the Arvan Valley.
On top of these two passes begins the magnificent Valley of Eau d'Olle. The Olle being the river that rises at the Iron Cross.
In the middle of this valley is Lake Grand'Maison retained by the dam of the same name.
In addition there is a cross between several valleys, Arvan, the Maurienne and Oisans. Indeed the Glandon and Croix de Fer is the relationship between the Savoie and Isère. You can reach Maurienne to Alpe d'Huez. Thus this mountain region is a paradise for cyclists as they can carry the biggest stages in the Tour de France.
If not for hikers, the Col du Glandon and Croix de Fer is the starting point for many hikes.
Either for the sports side is for walkers, this large mountainous space is absolutely gorgeous. With a little luck you will meet some marmots.
